Real-Time Measurement of Ultrashort Laser Pulses Using Principal Component Generalized Projections

چکیده

Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is a technique to measure ultrashort laser pulses that optically constructs a spectrogram of a laser pulse. A two-dimensional (2-D) phase retrieval algorithm is used to extract the intensity and phase of a pulse from its spectrogram. We have improved a recently presented principal component generalized projections algorithm (PCGPA) making it easier to implement and fast enough to allow real-time inversion of FROG spectrograms. A femtosecond oscilloscope, based on second-harmonic generation (SHG) FROG, that displays the intensity and phase of ultrashort laser pulses in real time utilizing the improved PCGP phase retrieval algorithm is presented.

Recent Progress Toward Real-Time Measurement of Ultrashort Laser Pulses

Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is a technique that produces a spectrogram of an ultrashort laser pulse optically. While a great deal of information about the pulse can be gleaned from its FROG trace, often it is desirable to obtain all of the pulse information immediately, in real time. Quantitative information about the pulse is not readily obtainable from its spectrogram without the...

Real-time inversion of polarization gate frequency-resolved optical gating spectrograms.

Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is a technique used to measure the intensity and phase of ultrashort laser pulses through the optical construction of a spectrogram of the pulse. To obtain quantitative information about the pulse from its spectrogram, an iterative two-dimensional phase retrieval algorithm must be used. Current algorithms are quite robust but retrieval of all the pulse i...

General ultrafast pulse measurement using the cross-correlation single-shot sonogram technique.

The cross-correlation single-shot sonogram technique offers exact pulse measurement and real-time pulse monitoring via an intuitive time-frequency trace whose shape and orientation directly indicate the spectral chirp of an ultrashort laser pulse. We demonstrate an algorithm that solves a fundamental limitation of the cross-correlation sonogram method, namely, that the time-gating operation is ...

Real-time chirp diagnostic for ultrashort laser pulses.

Using a real-time Fourier-transform algorithm, we present a simple technique for measuring the chirp of femtosecond laser pulses. We demonstrate significantly enhanced sensitivity compared with standard autocorrelation measurements.

Experimental determination of temporal asymmetry of ultrashort laser pulses using unbalanced modified spectrum auto-interferometric correlation technique

We report experimental implementation of an unbalanced modified spectrum auto-interferometric correlation (UMOSAIC) technique for visual detection and estimation of the laser pulse temporal asymmetry without direction-oftime ambiguity. This is based on modification of the spectral contents of second order unbalanced interferometric autocorrelation (U-IAC) signals. We use a commercial AlGaAs lig...
